DISCOVER TITISEE AND ITS LAKE

Start with a lakeside walk

At Titisee, you can enjoy the views from the central waterfront: the water, wooded hills and boats make it a welcome place to slow down between visits. For a first visit, we suggest starting with a short walk before choosing an activity.

The centre is popular with visitors and has shops, restaurants and terraces. It is convenient for a stop, but it is not a secluded retreat. If you prefer a longer walk, plan a dedicated outing and a route suited to your fitness.

PRACTICAL POINTERS

Enjoy the surroundings,
at your own pace.

Advice to help you plan your day and choose what suits you.

01 · PLAN

Have lunch, take a boat or extend your walk

A terrace break lets you enjoy the setting while leaving time for a walk. For an activity on the water, ask the provider directly about departure times, duration, weather conditions and the return point.

On the Abnoba tour, boating is optional and costs extra. Meals and drinks are not included either. Do not choose an activity whose schedule would make you miss departure for the next stop.

02 · PREPARE

A short stop or a proper hike: two different plans

For a walk near the centre and a few photos, we suggest allowing around an hour. Add more time for a relaxed lunch rather than trying to fit everything into a short stop.

The tourist office describes the Höhenklimaweg Titisee-Rundweg as a 7.93 km route, taking around 2 hours 20 minutes, with 161 metres of ascent. It is a moderate hike with sections that leave the immediate lakeshore. Do not confuse it with a short waterfront stroll.

Daniel allows around 1½ hours at Titisee on his tour. This suits a look around the lakeside and a break, depending on your choices; it does not allow enough time for the full hike and lunch.

03 · EXPLORE

Visiting Titisee from Strasbourg

First decide whether Titisee is your main destination or one stop on your route. For an independent day by the lake, check the return journey, the last suitable departure and how much time you will actually have there.

The High Black Forest can be reached by train via Freiburg and the Höllentalbahn. Use a journey planner for your chosen date to check connections and any engineering works.

For a first visit with a guide, the Abnoba tour combines Triberg, Titisee and Freiburg from Strasbourg. Daniel organises transport and adapts the order of visits to the day’s conditions.

Your questions before you travel

Can I walk around the lake during the tour?

The stop of around 1½ hours does not allow time for the 2-hour-20-minute hike described here. Choose a short walk and return at the time Daniel specifies.

Is a boat trip included?

No. It is an optional activity paid for separately, depending on availability that day and the time you have.

Is Titisee suitable for a short break?

Yes, a walk near the centre gives you a first impression. For longer walks or several activities, allow half a day or more, depending on your plans.
